About project
The e-MARC project represents a collaborative effort on a transnational scale, involving universities, a confederation of sport coaches, and regional clubs. Funded by the European Commission through the ERASMUS-SPORT-2021-SSCP program, its primary objective is to digitally empower coaches across various sports, competitive levels, and genders, with the overarching goal of promoting inclusion and diversity in different contexts. By providing coaches with the necessary tools and resources, this project aims to enhance their ability to select and implement suitable technological monitoring and assessment methods in sports, thereby elevating the overall quality of coaching and staff. The anticipated outcome is an improved ability to make a meaningful impact in the sports market, while simultaneously enhancing employability and fostering competitiveness for coaches.
This project is driven by the European Commission’s guidelines for action, which outline the minimum requirements in skills and competencies for coaches. These guidelines emphasize the need for a wider utilization of blended learning methods, the provision of diverse learning opportunities for coach training and development, and the adoption of a lifelong learning approach to coach education. In line with these principles, the project aims to achieve the following primary objectives:
- Enhancing coaches’ digital competence, particularly for those with limited access to such opportunities. The project seeks to empower coaches to effectively utilize digital resources for data collection, registration, storage, and management of sports performance data.
- Combining cutting-edge theory with best-practice coaching experiences through the integration of research and practice. By enabling coaches to convert data into actionable information, the project equips them with the tools to regulate and adapt their training processes on a daily basis.
- Establishing an online network resource for sport coaches with fewer opportunities, facilitating the storage and management of private data while fostering knowledge sharing and collaboration among coaches. Through this platform, the project aims to support active European citizenship and promote the integration of the European dimension at the local level, particularly for sport coaches facing resource constraints.
These objectives collectively contribute to the broader vision of the project, centered on enhancing coach education, promoting digital empowerment, and fostering an inclusive and interconnected community of coaches across Europe.
